We had a Cuisinart for years. It died. We replaced it with a Cuisinart from Canadian Tire. It was a piece of crap, May as well use a hammer on the beans. Returned it.
Found out about this one on Reddit. Coffee Warehouse had a good price.
Ordered it. There were delays. They were out of stock. Breville's distribiutor was out of stock. Breville was out of stock. Had to wait an extra few weeks. Made due buying ground coffee. Not the end of the world.
Sam at Coffee Warehouse dropped us a "We haven't forgotten you" email every couple weeks letting us know the latest word on the adventures of getting our coffee grinder to us.
The new supply was substantially more expensive -- on par with the prices I'd seen elsewhere. Sam honoured the original price. Coffee Warehouse didn't make much money on this sale. Maybe enough for a good cup of coffee.
I have huge respect for a company that keeps the spirit of it's word. Well done, Sam.
Ok. Results:
* This grinder has no timer. Push the button to turn it on. Push again to turn it off. It grinds so fast that it's not practical to get an accurate measure for just one pot of coffee. So we found a jar that fits under it, and every 3-4 days grind enough coffee for 3-4 pots of coffee. About 30 seconds.
It comes with a pair of pod holders for Keurig and Tassimo? The other brand, anyway.. No idea how this works. We don't have pods.
Anyway, It does what it does very well.
Downsides: As is common with coffee grinders, if whatever you are filling isn't close to the port, you have some grounds that leap for freedom. Nothing that a damp dishcloth can't deal with.
The manual mentions a cleaning brush. Not in the box. No big deal.
