Is a Jura coffee machine worth it?

A Jura coffee machine is worth it if you drink two or more espresso-based cups a day and want the machine to grind, tamp, and steam without you touching a portafilter. The trade-off is a higher upfront cost than a manual espresso machine, so it suits buyers who value consistency and time over hands-on brewing. How long do Jura filters last?

Jura's Claris filter cartridges generally last around two to three months, or about 50 litres of water, whichever comes first. Actual life depends on your local water hardness and how often the machine runs, and the machine prompts you on the display when it's time to swap the filter. Our guide to Jura filter lifespan covers how to read that prompt.

Does a Jura coffee machine make real espresso?

Yes. Every Jura espresso machine forces hot water through finely ground coffee at pressure, the same principle behind a manual machine, and Jura's Pulse Extraction Process is built to pull more flavour from each dose. See our full breakdown of whether Jura machines make real espresso for how that compares to a manual setup.

Do I need to clean the milk system every day?

Yes, Jura recommends running the milk system's automatic cleaning cycle daily if you make milk-based drinks, since residue builds up quickly and affects both taste and hygiene. The cycle itself only takes a few minutes. Our article on cleaning the Jura milk system daily walks through the steps.
