Breville Oracle™ Jet - Sea Salt
Description
The Breville Oracle Jet grinds, doses, tamps and textures milk for you, then brews through a real 58 mm portafilter. That combination is the whole point: the taste of a proper espresso machine with the ease of a fully automatic one, and cold brew in under three minutes on top.
Most people shopping at this level think they have to pick a side. Fully automatic machines are effortless, but they brew inside a sealed unit and typically top out around 16 grams of coffee per drink. Traditional espresso machines taste better, because a full dose is tamped into a proper basket and extracted under pressure, but they ask you to learn grinding, dosing, tamping and milk texturing first. The Jet automates every one of those steps and still puts 22 grams through a 58 mm portafilter, which is the café standard. That is a bigger dose than a 54 mm machine holds and more coffee than an automatic grinds, and you taste it in the strength and body of every drink.
Highlights
- A real 58 mm portafilter holding a 22 gram dose, the format and dose professional cafés use, and the single biggest reason the coffee tastes stronger and fuller than a 54 mm machine or an automatic manages
- Auto grind, dose and tamp from an integrated Baratza burr grinder with 45 settings, so the three steps that decide a shot are handled for you
- Auto MilQ texturing, 8 texture levels and 104 to 167 degrees Fahrenheit, tuned for dairy, oat, almond and soy
- Cold Brew and Cold Espresso modes, extracting cold in under 3 minutes and just over 1, rather than overnight
- Barista Guidance and Auto Queue: it detects an over or under extracted shot and tells you which way to move the grind, and lets you queue the next step instead of standing over it
- ThermoJet heating with a heated group head, adjustable in single degree increments and up to 32 percent more energy efficient than a thermoblock
Who it's for
- Anyone who has tasted the difference between an automatic machine and a proper espresso, and wants the better cup without the barista training
- Iced coffee drinkers, since cold brew takes minutes rather than a night in the fridge
- First-time owners who want the machine to teach them rather than leave a bad shot a mystery
Two things worth being clear about. You do still lock a portafilter into a group head, which is exactly why the coffee is better. If you want a drink that appears with no involvement at all, visit the showroom and we will put both kinds in front of you so you can taste the difference first. And like any machine that grinds fresh for every shot, the Jet rewards freshly roasted beans: buy in smaller amounts more often, and the difference in the cup is immediate.
Living with it
Daily, purge and wipe the steam wand and empty the puck. Milk is the one job on a machine with a wand that will not wait.
Then periodically, it prompts a cleaning cycle and a descale when due, and the cleaning kit and water filter are in the box. Fit the filter and set your water hardness on day one and descaling stays rare.
FAQs
-
How is this different from a fully automatic bean-to-cup machine?
A bean-to-cup machine brews inside a sealed unit and usually doses up to about 16 grams. The Jet automates the same steps, then extracts 22 grams through a 58 mm portafilter, the way a café machine does. More coffee in the basket and a proper extraction means a stronger, fuller cup. Same ease, better coffee. -
Do I need to know anything about espresso?
No. It handles grinding, dosing, tamping and milk texturing, and Barista Guidance tells you which way to adjust the grind if a shot runs long or short. -
How does the cold brew actually work?
It extracts at low temperature instead of steeping overnight. Cold Brew comes through in under three minutes, Cold Espresso with crema in just over one. Extracting cold reduces acidity, so it tastes smoother than iced hot coffee. -
Do I need a separate grinder?
No. The grinder is built in, with Baratza burrs and 45 settings, and it grinds and tamps straight into the portafilter. Fresh beans are all you add. -
Does it work with oat or almond milk?
Yes. Auto MilQ has settings tuned for dairy, oat, almond and soy, with 8 texture levels and 104 to 167 degrees Fahrenheit, so plant milks are handled on purpose rather than by luck. -
